Profile
Vegas was a son of the 4x BOB Crufts winner UK VA Champion Elmo von Huhnegrab and the top producing UK Champion Betty Degli Achei. He was purchased as a puppy back in 2012 from his breeders, David & Sharon. Vegas was my first step into the serious world of dog showing and I am internally grateful for all the support and guidance they provided me over the years. We travelled up and down the country attending both KC & WUSV shows, experiencing many successes with too many trophies and rosettes to count.
Physically Vegas is very typical of his sire, Elmo, which is something we continue to strive for when producing the next generation. Correctly sized with strong masculine features, dark soulful eyes, rich pigmentation and most importantly, moderate hind angulation and excellent forefront assembly. He had a far reaching, effortless gait that covered the ground well and always caught your eye. He was a truly magnificent male that never failed to turn heads wherever we went.
The one thing that I enjoyed most about Vegas was his character and work ethic. He had excellent drive and became a real work horse on the training field. No matter what sport we had a go at, he always excelled. We starting in the show ring, then moved onto the IGP field where he very quickly passed his BH with top comments from the judge. We sadly just missed out on our IGP1 title due to handler error and never had a chance to retake it as he injured to his gracilis muscle cutting short his IGP career. Determined to not let that stop us we moved to a less physically demanding sport, competitive obedience. At 8 years old we entered our first competition and within the next 5 shows we competed at, he had his pre-beg ex title, beg-ex title and certificate of merit. No matter how hard you pushed him, he never backed down or gave up. He worked his socks off and did it purely for his own enjoyment.
My heart broke the day we had to say goodbye and I will never get used to life without him. At 13.5 years old he had a wonderful, long life full of many happy moments together. He was a true legend and I am so thankful that I have two of his daughters here with me. One of which is helping keep his legacy going with future generations of Vylano.
Rest easy my boy xxx
